It was a battle of the gravity-defying hairstyles Tuesday night at the Cain's Ballroom.

Masses of punk devotees braved the harsh winter weather and gathered to see modern-day rockabilly pioneers Tiger Army, the Los Angeles trio billed to "haunt" the second stage with their ghoulish and nostalgic '50s- infused punk rock.

Tiger Army has quite the cult following -- just look at the band's Myspace page, which is adorned with photos of fans' assorted "tiger bat" tattoos.

For these boys and girls, rockabilly isn't just a genre, it's a way of life.

Although it's hard to say which 'do is more impressive -- the classic greaser pompadour or the mosh-proof mohawk -- music fans were dressed to the nines Tuesday night, complete with home-tailored leather jackets and other sock-hop approved garb with an oh-so-blatant Hot Topic twist.

Is it possible to remember being born?

I can't remember being born but I can remember the first time I was given semi-solid food after nothing but warm milk (bottle fed, by the way) - it felt so strange that it didn't just slip down easily, and I had to make an effort to swallow. I can remember slewing sideways in my highchair in reaction. I was less than a year old, for sure. I can also remember the awful sensation of the tight 'swaddling' clothes an old woman (grandmother?) tried to wrap me in so I couldn't kick and wriggle. I've hated tight clothes or tucked-in bed-linen ever since. I can also remember breaking a window at 18 months old. I'm always amazed that people can't remember before the age of 3. And no, these memories aren't linked to words / language - I remember sensations and images.

A rousing version of "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love & Understanding" had also been rehearsed, or at least semi-rehearsed, but then the band remembered it wasn't at the 400 Bar anymore (and had to cut it short). On Monday night, actors Scarlett Johansson and Kal (Kumar) Penn were also in town rallying for Obama at the University of Minnesota campus.

Since the acquisition of Paramount Parks in 2006, the company has created about 20 new corporate positions. The new positions include corporate director of human resources, vice president of corporate tax, corporate director of training and vice president of information systems -- to name a few.

Officials are also discussing details behind possibly constructing a new building at Cedar Point. Offices are now scattered throughout the park and the new building would consolidate the company's current corporate positions along with any new corporate positions that are filled.
